Why Did He Do It? There is a Tyler inside all of us.
As usual, the truth is likely a bit of this twisted, politicized narrative and a bit of that twisted, politicized narrative. In the end, it doesn't matter which side of the political aisle the shooter identified as. What we know is the following:
The shooter felt his actions were necessary, which means he had a reason to believe shooting Charlie Kirk would improve something.
There is no narrative on the right or left that justifies assassination of a man simply having debates others have the freedom to attend or avoid.
The shooter wrote a lot of meme references on his shell casings.
We don't know why he wrote them. Anyone claiming to know his motives is only seeing the situation through one perspective of a brain splintered by the lie that violence is the answer to his personal issues.
There are at minimum 9 different conspiracy theories already circulating by people waxing philisophical about a psychological issue trying to be the first "in the know", paint us into them vs. us categories, push their political agenda, or grift off of your fear.
Assassination as a shitpost is absolutely a possibility in our transhumanist, AI drenched, porn and violence soaked, terminally online culture. However, we don't know this to be true in this case. Even if we did, we wouldn't know which of the foul flavors of shitposting it was.
Those blaming incel nihlism are marrying that nihlism to a right vs. left narrative, as if there aren't nihilists in all political camps. It is an attempt to other the shooter out of their camp and into another one. It is divisiveness under the guise of hope in tribalism.
Those attemting to blame Russian influence are trying to other the shooter so far away he leaves American soil. They've no evidence at all he was influenced by Russia or Russian propoganda. This is Russ'Anon for conspiracy theorists. They will twist in knots to make it fit.
Those blaming groypers claim a young man would risk it all to make white nationalist utopia a reality for his toady friends. Nick Fuentes was foul to Charlie Kirk. There's no evidence this was a groyper hit job in a delulu attempt to push those who value free speech into facism.
All of those attempting to point fingers and online culture or video games are feeding the narratives that these things cause violence. They do not cause violence. They may encourage someone already considering violence to further their exploration and interest in it.
All of those attempting to point fingers at guns are failing to mention:
- guns laws were already broken in the process of this criminal act of violence
- guns are inanimate objects that do nothing unless a human is wielding them. Like any tool, they can be used for good or evil.
Those blaming a transgender roomate, liberal colleges, or his parents are failing to acknowledge that he had the free will at any point to reject any influence that would point him in the direction of deadly violence. Sure, people can be influenced, but THEY still make a choice.
The shooter chose to assassinate Charlie Kirk because he wanted Charlie dead. That is the end game. There is no justification for it. There is no wizard behind the curtain to blame. He woke up and chose violence, which we have made a catch phrase because we are so disembodied.
It is understandable people want an explanation. They want someone or something to blame besides evil intent in a man's heart to give the death penalty to a man who never faced charges, a trial, or a sentence of guilty.
You see, evil is a much harder thing to wrestle with that "THAT GROUP OVER THERE" because evil exists as a possibility inside all of us. We all have the potential to become so disallusioned by our self-righteousness that we find a way to justify dehumanizing one another, wven to the point of violence.
If we were to acknowledge that evil intent was the cause, we would have to wrestle with our own demons. There would be nothing to virtue signal. No moral superiority via online declarations.
It would require us to face our own biology and take ownership of our own participation in the disembodiment of our culture, to the point assassination is a meme.
Politicians can't save us from evil. Laws can't save us from evil. Tribes can't save us from evil. The only salvation from evil is hope in the eternal found through the perfect love of the often vilified, slandered, misquoted, and assassinated Jesus Christ.
Once you have a relationship with Christ, the trappings of this world become less influencial and more observational. Desire to seek revenge becomes a desire for accountability, forgiveness, healing and reconciliation. Fear becomes courage through love.
Charlie Kirk was not a perfect man. He was a sinner. Just like you and me. However, he did choose courage through love to enter the lions den day after day hoping to find some survivors he could show the way out.
What can you do now? You can pray to have the discernment and wisdom to be a shining light of hope and seasoned salt of truth in a culture peppering you with despair and discord.
Then, you can disengage from a faux existence of pixels and reconnect with your body. Only then will you be able to show up with instincts intact and strength to withstand the seductive siren's call of online tribalism.
Finally, you can work hard, help others, see beauty, seek truth, and create goodness.
